Joyce: I arrived Des Moines from Kansas City, well more precisely Richmond, at John and Margie Dawson’s (Margie is the sister of Brian’s father Eldon) around 6:00 p.m. with Brian having arrived about 5:15 p.m. Margie served dinner and John noted that bread should be eaten with every meal

Brian: While Joyce drove up from Richmond, I arrived in Des Moines from Chicago’s Midway airport via a commercial twin-engine propeller-powered airplane. Midway was (and likely remains) an airport with poor signage which ensnared me in its inner road structure before finally allowing me safe navigation to the car rental return area. (Side note: the automobile was having trouble and had to be babied along just to make it back to Chicago.) It was great to arrive in Iowa fresh from four days of genealogical research in east central Illinois, having worked about 11 hours each day and having slept about 9 hours each night; the research was very fruitful so well worth the effort.
